Tomorrow we're going to Mtskheta, the ancient capital where the rivers Aragvi and Mtkvari meet. Nino plans the whole day aloud, and I write it down, in Georgian, in the future tense.

The pronunciation is written in English letters, following Georgia’s official romanization. Say every letter: a as in father, e as in pet, i as in machine, o as in port, u as in rule; r is rolled; g is always hard; kh as in Scottish loch; gh a soft gargled g, like a French r; sh as in shop; zh like the s in pleasure; ch as in church; ts as in cats; dz as in adze; j as in jam. An apostrophe marks a “popped” consonant, said with a little click in the throat and no puff of air: k’, p’, t’, ts’, ch’, q’ (q’ is made deep in the throat). Without an apostrophe, k, p, t, ts, ch have a small puff of air. Use the Pronunciation button at the top to hide or show it.

In the future, the doer stays in the basic form and the object keeps -სs: ჩვენ ხინკალს შევჭამთchven khink'als shevch'amt, ნინო სვეტიცხოველს ნახავსnino svet'itskhovels nakhavs.
შემიძლიაshemidzlia + verbal noun; ვერver + verb: ვერ წავალver ts'aval (I can't go), ვერ მოვაver mova (he can't come).
ვნახავvnakhav is "I will see, I will visit". დავინახავdavinakhav is "I will catch sight of, I will see (something appear)": ორ მდინარეს დავინახავთor mdinares davinakhavt, "we'll see the two rivers".
Mtskheta is one of the oldest towns of Georgia and was its capital for centuries. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral stands in the centre of the town, and the Jvari monastery looks down on it from a hill above the meeting of the Aragvi and the Mtkvari rivers. The historical monuments of Mtskheta are on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
