The pronunciation is written in English letters, following Georgia’s official romanization. Say every letter: a as in father, e as in pet, i as in machine, o as in port, u as in rule; r is rolled; g is always hard; kh as in Scottish loch; gh a soft gargled g, like a French r; sh as in shop; zh like the s in pleasure; ch as in church; ts as in cats; dz as in adze; j as in jam. An apostrophe marks a “popped” consonant, said with a little click in the throat and no puff of air: k’, p’, t’, ts’, ch’, q’ (q’ is made deep in the throat). Without an apostrophe, k, p, t, ts, ch have a small puff of air. Use the Pronunciation button at the top to hide or show it.

| რომrom + optative: მოვედიmovedi, რომ დაგეხმაროrom dagekhmaro. | რათაrata + optative: მოვედიmovedi, რათა დაგეხმაროთrata dagekhmarot. |
| -ად: სასწავლებლად წავიდა.-ad: sasts'avleblad ts'avida. | იმისათვის, რომ… / -ის მიზნითimisatvis, rom… / -is miznit |

The official B2 example: > კარგად ესმით ახალი კადრების საჭიროებაk'argad esmit akhali k'adrebis sach'iroeba, რათა აგროსექტორის განვითარება არ შეფერხდესrata agrosekt'oris ganvitareba ar sheperkhdes. | They well understand the need for new staff, so that the development of the agricultural sector is not held up.
The official B2 grammar begins a sentence with იმისათვისimisatvis, რომ ქალი ლამაზად მივიჩნიოთrom kali lamazad mivichniot… ("in order for us to consider a woman beautiful…").
The official B2 example: > ქალაქის დათვალიერების მიზნით ჯგუფი ექსკურსიაზე წავიდაkalakis datvalierebis miznit jgupi eksk'ursiaze ts'avida. | The group went on an excursion to see the city.
The verb after რათაrata is in the optative (series II), so a transitive or medial doer takes the ergative: რათა სკოლამ კლუბი გახსნასrata sk'olam k'lubi gakhsnas, რათა მოსწავლეებმა ილაპარაკონrata mosts'avleebma ilap'arak'on.
Formal Georgian loves long words: მხარდაჭერაmkhardach'era (support) is literally "holding the side", წარმატებაts'armat'eba (success) "going forward". You will meet them in every official letter (lesson 182).
